The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Islamic Primary Leaving Examinations Board has officially  released the 2018 IPLE results.

The official ceremony was held on Friday at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala and presided over by the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.

A number of schools registered under the UMSC – IPLE Board increased from 61 in 2017 to 109 in 2018, and the number of candidates also increased from 1019 in 2017 to 1836 in 2018.

A total of 997 candidates (618 boys and 379 girls) passed in first grade with the best performing schools being;

Sumayya International School in Masaka, Ubayyi Islamic Primary and Quran school in Luwero, Lufuka Islamic Primary School in Wakiso, Iqra Islamic School Buddo in Mpigi, Namungoona Salaf Primary School in Kampala, Twawil Islamic P/S in Wakiso, Kyotera Islamic P/S in Kyotera, Kibuli Demonstration School in Kampala, Ubayyi Islamic in Wakiso and Rashid Islamic Day and Boarding P/S in Luwero.

In his speech, the Mufti congratulated the candidates that sat for the exams and their respective schools for attaching high value to Islamic education.

He urged more schools to register with the UMSC IPLE board noting that UMSC does not want to leave anyone behind on matters of education.

The Mufti cautioned the teachers of Islamic education against over caning students, saying that this will scare some of them from studying Islam.

He called upon teachers to discourage hate preaching and instill a culture of love and unity among students.

He lauded the UMSC Department of Education and partners for incorporating messages of work ethics, peace and tolerance in the Primary Islamic Education curriculum that is used to examine IPLE candidates.

The UMSC Education Department developed the curriculum with technical and financial support from Uganda Muslim Youth Development Forum (UMYDF) and Finish Aid.

The ministry of education approved the curriculum and praised those behind its development for clearly highlighting the methods, strategies, participatory exercises and evaluation techniques.
