Mukono South Member of Parliament Johnson Senyonga Muyanja has advised parents to minimize their intervention in deciding the appropriate course choices for their children.
Muyanja was speaking at a blessing and dedication service for this year’s  222 Senior Four and Senior Six  finalists of St. John’s Secondary School, Namuyenje.

The MP advised youth to block all loopholes giving communities the opportunity to decide their fate for them by addressing them as mature people owing to their physical changes, and reminded them that they remain young despite the natural body changes.
“When you give them the chance to treat you as mature people, they will lure you into temptations that may ruin your future,” he said.

The main celebrant, Mukono Diocesan Secretary Rev. Can. David Mpagi advised the youths  not to misinterpret teachers harshness towards them as victimization, and instead realize that it is intended to mold them into socially and morally advisable citizens.
The prelate noted that as the students are tussling it out with studies seeking excellence, the teachers are as well stressed in the struggle to ensure the fruits of their toiling pay off.

And the headteacher Henry Sentongo Ssali disclosed that the school has began a system of following up their old students with a view to ensure that they fit in society as upright citizens.
“They are our ambassadors out there and when they engage in activities like drug dealing and other crimes because of lack of guidance, our name as a school is tainted,” Sentongo noted.
