Police in Kanungu district is hunting for armed assailants who shot and injured three people, robbed them of yet unspecified amount of money and one kidnapped for a ransom.
Its alleged that on Friday at around 02:00 hours at Queen Elizabeth National park near Southern gate army barracks while traveling in motor vehicle registration number UAB 196 J Isuzu canter, carrying fish from Kasese direction to Ishasha about four armed personnel dressed in Congolese army attire emerged and shot at them, injured three in the legs.
The victims have been identified Patrick Buhara, 40 the driver a resident of Migyera cell, Migyera town Council, Nakasongola district, Julius Saturday, 36 who is a business man resident of Nsolo B cell, north A ward, western division Busia municipality/ district and Nasolo Sauda, 40 a business woman of Kiyola cell Namasagali parish Nabweru subcounty Nakasongola district while the fourth one Robert Mugabe was kidnapped and they are currently using his phone no 0782992472 demanding a ransom of twenty thousand US dollars.
The Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly maate has confirmed this development.
The injured are admitted at Kihihi health centre four.
This case of Aggravated Robbery has been registered at Kanungu police under file number CRB 487/2018.
