Kylian Mbappe is set to donate around £400,000 to charity after guiding France to the World Cup.
The French teenager scooped the Best Young Player award in Russia after a superb tournament, which was capped by scoring in Sunday’s final against Croatia.
Before the tournament, it emerged that Mbappe is donating his entire international match fees to charity, because he feels he should not be paid to represent his country.
That reportedly amounts to £17,000-per-game plus a £265,000 bonus for winning the tournament and according to L’Equipe , Mbappe is giving away the lot.
Mbappe is a patron of the Preiers de Cordees association, a charity which helps organise sports activities for children with disabilities.
Mbappe bagged two in the 4-3 victory over Argentina in the last-16 and was instrumental on their road to World Cup glory.
He was instrumental in the final too, scoring France’s fourth in their 4-2 win over Croatia.
Mbappe’s generosity is said to have influenced his France team-mates to follow suit.
Sebastien Ruffin, general manager of the charity, said: “When his schedule allows it, he intervenes for us with pleasure. He has a very good [relationship] with children, he always finds the right [words] to encourage them. I sometimes even feel that [he] takes more pleasure to play with the kids than the kids themselves.”
Mbappe’s incredible gesture is not out on its own, however.
