UPDF together with representatives from the Burundi Defence Forces have launched the 37th Tarehe Sita anniversary celebrations in Kibuku district.

The two Forces carried out civil military works in both medical and minor engineering works. A general ward at Kadama Health Centre iii is being renovated by the joint EAC forces

Speaking at the district launch of the Defence Forces week, the Woman MP for Kibuku Constituency and Minister of State for Local Government Hon Jeniffer Namiyango, commended UPDF for their numerous heroic acts evidenced by their work in the 2018 Tarehe Sita Civil-military activities.

She urged sons of the soil to emulate the late RO/ OO6 Kazimoto Mpiima from Budaka and join the army, adding that this will be their contribution to transforming the country from a predominantly peasant society to a modern society.

Brig Stephen Othieno, who represented Maj Gen John Mateka, lauded UPDF leadership for giving back to the community since UPDF image is built on the close relationship it enjoys with civilians. He encouraged the local leadership to maintain the work of the EAC Armed Forces conducted in Bukedi Region.

The minister was accompanied by the District Chairman Mr Kadiama Charles, local leaders, and veterans in the area.
