NBL beat four nominees under this category to include their direct competition Uganda Breweries Limited, Crown Beverages and Harris International.

Our exports for 2016 stood at over USD7 million,” Sumin Namaganda, the External Communications Manager of NBL who represented the company at the award ceremony said.
“We currently export to Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and South Sudan with plans to export to Rwanda as well.”
The awards, organized by Uganda Export Promotions Board, were under the theme: ‘Exporting – Growth Opportunity for local industry’.
In her speech, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Hon. Amelia Kyambadde commended the winners and urged businesses to increase their exports as the country moves to reduce its trade deficit.
“Exporting comes with some challenges like an unlevelled playing ground inform of under valuation of beer products from other competing exporters into the countries we compete, resulting in those exporters paying less duties at the borders thereby being able to price lower than NBL in the market,” she said. Non-tariff barriers also remain an issue of major concern.”
“We pledge our continued support towards export promotion in Uganda trough through responsible trading and marketing of our products and strictly adhering to country of export and import trade rules and regulations.”
