Fatal Accident on Gulu-Juba Highway, motorcyclist dies on spot

This morning at about 5:30 AM a fatal accident occurred on Gulu-Juba highway at Keyo trading center involving an Isuzu Bus Registration No UAJ 880R belonging to Onzuri Bus company.

ASP Patrick Jimmy Okema, Aswa Region Police Spokesman has confirmed.

“The bus knocked a motor cyclist Okello Micheal Orom who died on spot. He was riding a motorcycle registration number UEC 658A Bajaj red in color.” He stated.

“It’s alleged that the bus driver lost control, hit the motorcyclist which made the bus overturn injuring 8 passengers leaving one in critical condition, identified as Aisha Faith.”

The injured were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital Lacor for treatment.

“It’s a festive period and we appeal to members of public to follow traffic rules and regulations and avoid over speeding” Okema appealed.

The bus driver Laziko Robert reported at Gulu police station and is helping police with investigation.

Plans to remove the bus are underway.
