Muteesa I Royal University will re-open its doors next month, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has revealed. The Katikkiro said this while opening the retreat of the Kingdom’s cabinet and officials which is currently underway in Ndejje, off Entebbe Road.

“Muteesa I Royal University will re-open next month and it needs your support,” Mayiga told his audience.

The University Council had closed the university after some members of the council incited students and staff to strike. The management of the university and the council sought to close the university to seek long term solutions to the problems the university has been undergoing.

A top university official informed our journalists that indeed the council and the Kingdom had carried out investigations and found solutions to the problems.

“As the Katikkiro has said, the university will reopen enabling students to continue with their studies,” a top university official told our reporter.
