The mufti of Uganda his eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje has presided over the inauguration of the new Kalangala Muslim district kadhi.

Mayanja Edris Ibrahim was sworn-in by the Uganda Muslim supreme council electoral commission chairman hajji Ahmed Kayongo Nyago as the first kadhi of the newly created Muslim district of Kalangala during the crowded inauguration ceremony held at the headquarters of Kalangala Muslim district in Kagala zone.

On the same occasion over 30 Muslim councilors were sworn-in to fill the Muslim district council and assist the district kadhi.

Mubajje entourage included the secretary general hajji Ramadan Mugalu, secretary for finance Hajji Issa Shaban, director of sharia Sheikh Ibrahim Yahaya Kakungulu and others.

Addressing the masses who turned up for the inauguration, the Mufti of Uganda argued the newly inaugurated district Kadhi Sheikh Mayanja to unite his followers regardless of gender. The mufti also appealed to the people of Kalangala to avoid copying the acts going-on in the Arab world saying that the acts being done by jihadist groups like ISIS, AlQAEDA and others is not religion but politics. He said Islam teaches peace not violence.

He emphasized collaboration with other religions adding that this is one way of luring them into Islam and maintaining peace in Uganda and the world at large.

The event was attended by the Kalangala resident district commissioner Tukaikiliza Caleb, district chief administrative officer Gabriel Atana, the district education officer and others.

On the same working tour the mufti opened Beta Madalasat nursery and primary school in Beta zone aimed at improving the standards of Islam on the island of Kalangala where he argued the pupils to study harder and transform the Islamic world.

Mubajje also held a meeting with Kalangala district councilors led by the district chairman William Lugoloobi at the district headquarters and argued them to unite the masses and preach unity among religions.

Here Mr Lugoloobi promised to work hand in hand to unite the people of Kalangala irrespective of their faith.
