Pastor Samuel Kakande has today appeared before the Land Inquiry Committee led by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire to defend himself over wrongful acquisition of forest land in Masaka.

Pastor Kakande is cited in the fraudulent acquisition of 40 Square Miles of forest land in Bukakata, Masaka where he grew sugar canes and his so called ‘holy’ rice.

Authorities accuse the ‘Man of God’ of degrading the forest land and cutting down trees.

They say the land in question used to be a forest and partly a wetland but Kakande uses money from people given by God to destroy God’s creation.

Pastor Kakande has been receiving several notices from National Environmental Authority (NEMA) since early March warning him about over exploiting nature but he always gave a deaf ear.
