More changes in the military are still taking effect. Another shakeup among publicists of Uganda People Defence Forces have been announced seeing Lt Col Deo Akiiki Asiimwe who is away finalising strategic studies in USA, appointed to deputise Brig Richard Karemire who is the UPDF spokesman.
Brig Karemire is the first UPDF spokesman at a rank of a General, which is a move Mr Museveni made to give the Communication department in the Force more importance since propaganda warfare has heightened in recent times. Lt Col Deo Akiiki is a veteran military publicist who has worked with the media for a long time as a spokesman of several Divisions across the country. He also served in Mogadishu under Amisom’s communications department.
The new changes also affected Major Peter Mugisha who has been appointed spokesman for the Second Division in Western Uganda while Major Anthony Kiconco Tabaro has been appointed as production and marketing officer in the Directorate of Information.
