A man identified as Pius Oire has been killed by a mob in Kumi district for allegedly stealing dried potato flakes.
Jacob Emau, the Officer in Charge of Ongino police post confirmed the incident and said the deceased was a resident of Ototolim village.
It is alleged that Oire was found with two basins of dried potato flakes belonging to a fellow resident to feed his starving family.
According to the councilor for Ongino sub county, Patrick Okillan, the father of three children could have been forced to steal because of the acute food shortage that hit the region as a result of the long dry spell
