Songbird Susan Kerunen is the only Ugandan selected for the forthcoming edition of the Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases (ACCES).
According to organisers the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) ‘11 acts have been drawn from across the genre spectrum to showcase the different sounds that define contemporary and traditional music in sub-Saharan Africa over three days – between November 15-17 at the National Theatre and Alliance Française in Nairobi.
Kerunen will share the stage Kenyans Eric Wainaina, Makadem, Maia and the Big Sky, Johnstone Mukabi and Omutibo Stars Band, Winyo as well as Kidum and the Bodaboda Band. They will be joined by Seun Olota (Nigeria), Sahad and The Nataal Patchwork (Senegal), Siti & The Band (Tanzania) as well as Djénéba & Fousco (Mali).
The festival is free of charge but ine is required to register in order to reserve a seat.
The second edition, follows the successfully organized ACCES in Dakar, Senegal last year where about 500 participants from more than 40 countries in Africa and Europe as well as the US and Australia came together to learn about the West African music industry.
The pan-African event is also aimed at bringing together for music industry players to exchange ideas, discover new talent and create business linkages. ACCES 2018 will offer a dynamic programme including keynote talks, panel discussions, presentations, networking sessions, exhibitions, showcases, training workshops, and visits to key music industry hubs in Nairobi, according to organisers.
