Police stand in way of Kyarenga Concert after Namboole greenlight

Like the Biblical Pontius Pilate, Namboole Stadium management has on Thursday washed its hands over the Kyarenga Concert, rescheduling the aborted October 20 gig to November 9. In a letter issued to Emma Promotionz and Marketing Agency, Namboole management, however sets stringent rules before the show can take place.

Emma Promotionz and Marketing Agency are the show’s organisers.

“With reference done to your letter dated 15^th October, requesting to use the stadium arena on 9^th November 2019, the stadium will avail to you the facility if you fulfill the requirements,” reads the letter signed by Roland Kyalisiima, the stadium’s chief finance officer. The concert will start at 6pm and is expected to end at exactly 10pm and only if the promoter pays Shs32million in full by October 29.

Also, Bobi Wine’s fans are not supposed to step on the grass since the stadium is expected to host a Cranes match.

But key to the requirements needed is a police letter clearing Bobi Wine to hold the show.

However, the musician turned politician has already accused the police of plotting to sabotage the show.

Just on Wednesday, Police’s Inspector of Operations, Assuman Mugyenyi advised Bobi Wine to cancel the concert because the matrix of activities at the stadium availed to them for events scheduled between September 2018 to January 2019 did not have a concert.

“You are advised to call off the music show since you have not made any arrangements with the management of Mandela National Stadium to host the music show on the 20^th day of October,” reads the letter in part.

A wedding is, however, scheduled for October 20 the day Bobi Wine thought he would entertain his fans.

“We have done everything required of us by law but it is apparent that the people in authority are doing everything possible to frustrate the concert. As things stand, the concert has been left in balance. A lot of money and time have been spent in advertisements and preparations,” Bobi posted.

Bobi also said before scheduling the concert for 20^th, he had booked October 13.  However, the management of the stadium requested organisers to change the dates to 20^th because Uganda Cranes was to play an Afcon qualifier against Lesotho Crocodiles at the same venue.

He was then surprised to see a letter addressed to his management on Facebook showing that the venue will not be available.
