Muhoozi has right to stand for president – Kabuleta

A fortnight ago, former sports journalist Joseph Kabuleta was arrested and jailed for four days at the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in Kireka.

Then, the police said he was accused of posting an offensive message on Facebook in which he allegedly referred to President Yoweri Museveni as a ‘gambler, thief and liar’.

Kabuleta also said wrote that ‘someone dull and lifeless as Gen Muhoozi (Kainerugaba) cannot be President unless his father Yoweri Museveni put all Ugandans to sleep’.

During incarceration, Kabuleta, a pastor of Watchman Ministries, also said he was ‘tortured for telling the truth’ in his ‘Kabuleta’s Weekly Rants’ musings on Facebook.

He was released on July 16 on police bond and is required to report to police every after two days.

One of the conditions he received before release was to keep away from the First family and army generals, especially First Son Lt Gen Muhoozi.

“At SIU I was told, ‘We want you to apologise for offending the first family and from now onwards, respect Generals especially General Muhoozi (Kainerugaba). I am not saying anything that is untrue, I felt that was unfair,” he says.

But it seems like he is about to back away from commenting on Gen. Muhoozi. At the weekend, he told nbs TV that the Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations, is free stand for presidency like everybody else.

“What he doesn’t have is a right to be enthroned like a hereditary ruler,” he added.

Kabuleta, who has previously said he was not a scared man but ‘wanted those people to understand that dialogue should be handled with dialogue’ also said that he will never going to be one of those who support Gen. Muhoozi or vote for him.

“…. And I have that right. The opportunity to win me over could have been before I was tortured.”
