Besigye castigates NRM for denying citizens services

Dr. Col Kizza Besigye, the former Forum for Democratic Change- (FDC) party president has attributed poor health services in health centers to corruption within state agencies.

Dr. Besigye on Saturday noted that some patients are dying or others are being referred to Aga Khan in Kenya and India due to insufficient medical drugs and equipment.

He castigated the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party for denying citizens good services they are supposed to get.

“Government has failed to improve health facilities. But I commend Loins Club for coming up to rescue Ugandans by providing health services,” he Htold hundreds of Lions Club members during the installation of president Lion Rumanzi Perez and induction dinner in Ntungamo Municipality.

Rumanzi, a senior journalist working with Daily Monitor was elected seventh president of Lions Club of Ntungamo District 411B- Uganda.

He will replace Enock Basude who has been Lions Club president for the last one year.

Lions Clubs International (LCI) is an international non-political service organization established originally in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, by Melvin Jones.

It had over 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.7 million members (Lions & LEO) in 190 countries around the world.

Speaking on the same occasion, the Kajara county MP. Timuzigu Micheal Kamugisha hailed Lion Club International for complementing government efforts to extend health services to the public.

Hon Timuzigu told them that government work with such implementing partners for good service deliver attributing it able leadership of NRM.

The installation and induction ceremony was presided over by Lion Edgar Mbahamize MJF cabinet secretary who asked the incoming president and his wife Ankwase Claire to increase the membership.

Lion Mbahamize asked the members to keep the spirit of improving the lives of less fortune Ugandans.

The outgoing Lions president Basude Enock highlighted what has been done including new members numbering 12 and retained old ones through regular fellowships activities and conducted a diabetes Retinopathy camp in Rukungiri district.

The incoming Lions president Rumanzi Perez noted that during this Lionistic year, his emphasis will be construction of Eye care center in partnership with the south Ankole Diocese, secure green zone and Leisure Park.

He said that his tenure will be the year of action and will look for the chartered members who were once members but later dropped from the Lions club.

He attributed his election as president of Lions to patriotism and his extraordinary performance in serving the community through human rights advocacy.

Rumanzi pledged to increase environment protection awareness and youth development projects especially career guidance given the fact that climate change has become a topical issue globally.

Other four new members were inducted into Lions are Musinguzi Justus Magingo, Counsel Luyima Jabber, Kirabo Jolly and Mugume Sharpie.
