Mukono Division police Communiaty Liaison Officer (CLO) AIP Johnson Moses Mugwe has disclosed that immoral people have devised a system of using social media in circulating immoral; work passing it as gospel music.
He said this is manifests itself in young people doing indecent dancing gigs while singing gospel music at their shows.
Mugwe was on Tuesday making a presentation at a function at Bishop’s Senior School Mukono where Mukono Diocesan Bishop Rev. James William Sebaggala was launching the diocesan year of the children, geared at protecting children against vices like sexual abuse, child abuse denial of access to education and a decent living, and other forms of molestation.
The CLO expressed worry that coupled with legal provisions outlawing corporal punishment; children’s morals have been further degraded to lamentable levels.
Explaining the essence of the year of the children, Bishop Sebaggala said everyu last Friday of the month has been dedicated to a specil meeting between members of the community, leaders and children in schools.
“The essence is to bring to the forefront cases of child abuse in society and jointly identify ways of fighting the problem, and we are encouraging children to join scouts and girl guides clubs as a way of instilling discipline among children”, the prelate observed.
Mukono Deputy Mayor Jamada Kajoba suggested that the diocese’s move is used as a beginning step for stake holders to forge a united front to fight child rights abuse which he said is rampant in the country.
