Semifinals First Leg Result:

SLAU (2) Vs (1) Kampala University

St. Lawrence University (Slau) look to clinch a place in the finals of the University Football League as they take on Kampala University on Thursday.

With Kyambogo University already in the final after defeating Bugema University 1-0 in the second leg advancing 3-0 on aggregate, the competition might see a new winner if St. Lawrence complete their semifinal task against two-time champions Kampala University.

Deo Sserwadda’s Kyambogo will hope to exorcise the 2014 demons, having lost to MUBS in the final.

St. Lawrence who are in their second season in the league are unbeaten and also hold the advantage after a 2-1 first leg away win thanks to Isaac Ogwang’s brace.

Nnono Ssozi, the St. Lawrence coach is optimistic, but warns that the boys have to keep composure to reach the final.

“Everyone is excited because of where we have reached, but the boys have be composed if we are to achieve anything,” said Ssozi.

Uganda Martyrs University (UMU are defending champions having edged MUBS 2-0 in the final at Namboole.

Teams will share Shs24 million according to their performance, with the winner guaranteed a cash prize of Shs4million. Silver and bronze medalists will walk away with Shs3m and Shs2m respectively.
