Uganda she cricket team has given a tough time to Kenyans and other countries to emerge as silver medalists in the Kwibuka cricket for peace women’s tournament in Rwanda.
The final game that ended 136:98 in favor of Kenya was explained as a fair play that was showcased by the players.
Team coach also school coach for Jinja SS Mugalula Habib said that he was not even expecting his players to reach that score due to the fact that the Kenyan opponents were too old as compared to the Ugandan girls.
“Kenyans were ranging in their early thirties yet our Ugandan girls were between 16 and 20 years.” said Mugalula.
He added that this is a good chance to get good talent at such a tender age. On this note, he advises all the players to go back and teach what they have learnt from the tournament to fellow club-mates.
Team captain Nakisuyi Imaculate said that they played their best and they expect to play better next time.
“We have played the best game ever. When you look at our competitors, they use the same players year by year, something which is not the same with Uganda” she said.
The Uganda girls were picked from 16 secondary schools from all regions of Uganda including Jinja ss, St John Mukono, Arua among others.
Five countries participated including Uganda,Kenya,Tanzania,Rwanda and Burundi.
