Milton Karisa put up a man of the match performance as Vipers Sports Club earned a 2-0 victory against Kirinya Jinja SS at St.Mary’s stadium on Friday.
A goal in either half from Karisa were enough to fire the Venoms past the visitors to help Vipers return to winning ways.
Manager Miguel Da Costa made three changes from the team that lost to KCCA FC with midfielder Tom Masiko starting ahead of Brian Nkuubi.
Striker Tonny Odur and midfielder Duncan Sseninde also started in place of Stephen Mukwala and Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye.
Vipers started with alot of intensity right from onset creating several chances and putting the visitors on alot of immense pressure.
There was an early injury blow as midfielder Tadeo Lwanga was stretched off just after 20 minutes. He was replaced by Brian Nkuubi.
Karisa gave Vipers SC the lead heading home skipper Nicholas Wadada’s cross in the 24th minute.
A floating cross from Wadada found Karisa unmarked inside the goal area and he did no mistake to plant a powerful header past goalkeeper Tom Ikara.
This seemed to have given the Venoms momentum dominating possession for the bigger of the game.
Masiko, Odur all came close to doubling the lead but failed to put away their chances.
Karisa doubled the lead for Vipers with 19 minutes to go slotting home to seal maximum points.
There were more changes for the Venoms with Barden Mujaheed and Frank Tumwesigye coming on for Tonny Odur and Duncan Sseninde.
The result means Vipers SC moves to fourth place on the log with 20 points.
