A tragic accident on the Rukungiri-Ntungamo road claimed the life of a 19-year-old motorcyclist, Peter Musinguzi from Rwakirungura cell, Katojo ward, Buyanja town council. The accident occurred at approximately 18:20hrs on 22 November 2023 at Buyanja Town Council.
According to police reports, the driver of an Isuzu bus, registration number UBE 379Q, belonging to the High Way bus company, swerved to avoid a pothole in the middle of the road and veered into the opposite lane. The bus collided head-on with Musinguzi’s motorcycle, registration number UFZ 247X, causing fatal injuries to the rider.
Police officers Cpl Oketayot and team arrived at the scene to document the incident and secure the vehicles involved. The bus and motorcycle are currently parked at the Buyanja police station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
Attempts to apprehend the bus driver, who fled the scene, are currently underway.
“Inquiries are still at hand,” stated ASP Maate Elly, PRO of Kigezi region.
