A total of 20 police officers drawn from the canine department have on Thursday completed a 6-months course in Narcotic Detection at Canine Headquarters in Nsambya.

CP Kato Paul, the Deputy Director CID presided over the closing ceremony and urged the officers to take the knowledge and skills acquired seriously for better service delivery and also warned them against involvement in any corrupt tendencies.

During the course, the participants were taken through different types of narcotics, physical identification of narcotics and tentative testing of narcotics, the different forms of concealment methods used by most drug traffickers, like hiding under the fat rolls, use of false bottoms, use of craft shoes, new clothes, bed sheets, management of narcotic scene, exhibits and presentation of canine evidence in courts of law in order to secure a conviction.

Course participants, benefitted from a wide range of external facilitators especially from the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory, Anti-Narcotics department CID headquarters, Anti-Narcotic officers from AVIPOL and the counter terrorism instructors.
