Zambian’s Letter cautioning Ugandans on not appreciating President Museveni

By Ben Phiri

I happen to be a Zambian national but well known in Uganda. Lately , l have gotten very concerned with the way our younger generation appear oblivious to the historical facts of the country. Firstly, President Yoweri Museveni, is undoubtedly the best Head of State Uganda has had and this is largely premised on the fact that he is the only leader at the zenith of the country’s political pyramid to bring sustainable peace to Uganda.

Previous governments failed on account of their aggregate inability to attain national coherence and crucially to create an army with a true national identity. President Museveni has achieved both namely; the hitherto evasive unity of purpose between and among Ugandans of different ethnic complexion and the creation of an army the UPDF which performs it’s core function of defending the country’s territorial integrity against external aggression besides extending humanitarian assistance to the nationals as and when need arises.

The rapid transformation that Uganda continues to undergo is a carefully thought through development road map that was kick started with the first shot fired by the current respected Security minister Hon Gen Elly Tumwine, at Kabimba!

My appeal is mainly to the UBF (Ugandas Born Free) who came into existence between 1986, when the NRA triumpatically captured State power after a protracted five year bush war, and now, that u recast your minds back to the dark days of Uganda and you will certainly appreciate President Museveni for bringing sustainable peace to the pearl of Africa.

It can not be contested that the President will one day retire and go to his farm at Rwakitura which l have been privileged to visit on a number of occasions, but this must not be forcefully done. Again change for the sake of change is often times characterised by catastrophic ramifications.

With that said my choice remains Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for President of Uganda in the forthcoming 2021 elections and my hope and prayer is that my dear Ugandan brothers and sisters will benchmark their choice for President against the numerous achievements recorded under the visionary leadership of President Yoweri Museveni.

In 2021, be wise, as we arise, with a deafening massive vote for Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

All this l say, For God and My Country
