The Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security,Lt. Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso has assigned the Deputy Press Secretary to H.E the President, Hajji Faruk Kirunda to oversee her burial when she passes on.

Gen. Nalweyiso who seemed to make a verbal will, made the revelation last Sunday 30th June, 2024 during the burial ceremony of the late Gladys Aliyinza, the wife of Hajji Kirunda that was held in Lambala Village, Luuka district.

Ms. Aliyinza died on Thursday 27th June, 2024 in a fatal motor accident in Luuka.

“I want to see what is happening here to also happen during my burial. The ceremony has attracted people from all walks of life. Faruk is a quiet, humble but a very hardworking man. And I wonder how he manages to make all these friends. Based on the many people who have come here today, it is evident that he is a man of the people,” Gen. Nalweyiso who is a close friend and a neighbour of Hajji Kirunda in Ntawo, Mukono said during the sendoff of the late Aliyinza that attracted thousands of mourners who included high ranking government officials such as the Vice President, H.E Jessica Alupo, Ministers, security heads, Members of Parliament, among other dignitaries.

“As for me, I cannot pull such a big number of mourners so I would Like to entrust my son Faruk to oversee my burial arrangement when I die, you should help me gather such a big number of mourners. I pray that I die before you so that you make it happen,” she added.

During the same ceremony, Gen. Nalweyiso who condoled with Hajji Kirunda’s family upon the loss of their beloved one, advised the Deputy Press Secretary to H.E the President not to lose hope but stay humble and strong.

“Stay strong for your young children,” Gen. Nalweyiso informed Hajji Kirunda who had three children with the late Aliyinza, with the eldest child being 10 years old.

She also commended Hajji Kirunda for being an incorruptible government official.

On his part, Hajji Kirunda thanked mourners for standing with him during the trying moment.

He also noted that despite the loss of his dear wife, he will continue taking good care of his children.

Hajji Kirunda also narrated his late wife’s political aspirations and thanked the people of Luuka for the support they have been giving Ms. Aliyinza in her political journey.

By the time of her passing, Ms. Aliyinza was planning to contest for the seat of Luuka District Woman Member of Parliament in 2026.
