Eng Joseph Sewava, the National Communications Assistant to the NRM National Chairman Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has asked all those attacking the Office of the President over the recent RDC/ RCC deployment to immediately stop for it’s not their duty to veto the appointments.
The changes, announced over a week ago have since sparked a debate, with a section of the public questioning the decision of appointing authority over the choices he made.
The Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda has particularly been on the receiving end of attacks from discontented members of the party, linking her to possible foul play in the process of identification of the appointees, something that Museveni Communications man- Sewava describes as “misdirected attacks”.
In his phone conversation with Watchdog Uganda this morning, Sewava lambasted the architects of the criticism directed against Minister Babalanda, urging that she is the last person he thinks can stoop that low to break the rules she so much cherishes on integrity.
” I have worked with Madam Milly long enough and I can proudly say that I know her in and out. I know what she is capable of doing and what she can not do. With the issue of integrity, these allegations are complete crap. She is the last person I believe can break the rules she has set at the Presidency,” he said.
Sewava, further laughed off the bribery allegations leveled against the Presidency in the RDC deployment process, insisting there was the highest degree of transparency and integrity whose questioning finds him greatly disturbed.
“Nobody pays money to be appointed by the President. It’s about Loyalty, Commitment, Patriotism, Hard work, and Integrity,” he explained.
Sewava further reminded those complaining that the power to appoint and disappoint RDC, RCCs, and their deputies exclusively belong to the President, and questioning his choices raises an issue of integrity, especially when it comes from leaders and cadres in the party.
“Those doubting the President’s integrity are missing a point and most of the RDCs appointed by the Appointing authority were young Men and Women who were carefully identified and vetted by the different intelligence organs. Those who were dropped were nonperformers,” he stressed.
He also cautioned the new officials to jealously protect their jobs, by picking lessons from a host of their predecessors who were dropped for no good performance. He reminds them that their resilience, competency, and corrupt-free service will vindicate both the President and the Minister from the hostilities orchestrated by the bad guys.
