Former Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine has said the assassination attempt on Gen Edward Katumba Wamala is an indication that lawlessness does not only affect common citizens but also high ranking members of the society.

Gen Katumba was on Tuesday attacked by armed assailants moving on two motorcycles. They shot over 50 bullets on his car. The former army chief survived with bullet injuries. Unfortunately, the strike left his daughter Brenda Nantongo Katumba and driver Haruna Kayondo dead.

The incident took place along Kisota road in Kisaasi, a city suburb.

Commenting about the tragedy, Bobi Wine called upon all Ugandans to open their eyes to the painful reality that no one is safe in the East African country.

“The assassination attempt on Gen. Katumba Wamala which left his daughter and driver killed in cold blood is another indication that lawlessness does not only affect common citizens but also high ranking members of society,” the National Unity Platform (NUP) president said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“NO ONE IS SAFE! This is the painful reality that all Ugandans must all open our eyes to. My condolences to the family of Gen. Katumba and the family and we hope that he gets well soon.”
