The family of Maria Nagirinya is in great panic over the disappearance of their relative.
According to reliable sources, Nagirinya, a staff of Community Integrated Development Initiatives (CIDI) was kidnapped on Wednesday night at around 11PM as she waited outside the gate of her house in Lungujja Community Zone (Busega), a Kampala suburb.
She was returning from work.
On Thursday morning, her empty car was found abandoned in Kinnawataka, Nakawa Division. Her phones remain switched off.
“Her phones are off and we haven’t received any call from anyone to tell us where she is,” a friend said, adding that a case of a missing person has since been reported at police.
Nagirinya’s disappearance is one of the several missing women registered this year, including that of Dr Cathy Agaba of International Hospital Kampala (IHK) and Maria Nabuyunga, a laboratory technician at Nsambya hospital who disappeared in April.
Police arrested a security guard, Ronald Obongo who was guarding the premises where Agaba was renting and he reportedly confessed to killing her and dumping her in a septic tank. Nabayunga later returned herself home safe.
