Lucy Namakula Binaisa, wife of former President of Uganda Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa has passed on. She was 89.
Namakula who has been living in USA died on Wednesday after a serious illness. She became a US citizen in 1997 after fleeing Uganda in the early 80’s.
A daughter of former Buganda Government Chief and Katikiro Sekibobo Susanni Buyana Muinda, Binaisa married Bianisa at 16. The union survived for 16 years before went on to live with Peter Kigozi, the half-brother of the Kabaka Mutesa II.
She will be buried in Hartford Connecticut, USA, on Saturday December 1.
She is survived by three children, Drusilla Kigozi and Edward Luyonde Kigozi and Patrice Wasajja Binaisa and five grandchildren.
