Police in Kabale has two suspects in custody and others are on the run for alleged aggravated robbery.
The two allegedly robbed motor vehicle registration number UAK 324 M Toyota premio grey in colour belonging to Mr Edward Kiiza which was loaded full of tomatoes.
This was at unknown time of the night of Friday 21/09/18 from where it was packed in Kekubo trading centre.
The two suspects are are; Alex Kamukama, 27 of Kyetobokire cell Rwakaraba ward Northern division and Agaba Derrick Alias Musical, 25 of Nyamabare cell Rushaki ward Southern division both in Kabale municipality.
It’s alleged that after they robbed the said vehicle from the one who was guarding sleeping in it, they drove and off loaded the tomatoes about 800 kgs and put them in Burambira village and went and abandoned the car in Makanga along Electoral commission road.
They went ahead and stole it’s battery and the rear seat.
They thereafter got a very early taxi to Mbarara and went and loaded the said tomatoes for sale, but on their way on a tip off, were intercepted at Nyakijumba and were arrested.
After their arrest, search was conducted in their respective place of aboard and other boxes of tomatoes, battery and rear seat were recovered among many other things.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson says that Musiramu was on a wanted list over several other aggravated robberies in Kabale.
Maate has added that investigations are under way to hunt down their fellow robbers.
This case has been registered at Kabale police under file number CRB 2125/2018.
