Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club(KCCA FC) emerged winners of the inaugural Pilsner Super 8 Cup after defeating Onduparaka FC 2-0 in the final played at Muteesa II Stadium,Wankulukuku on Saturday.
Goals from Saddam Ibrahim Juma and Allan Okello in the first half were enough to help KCCA FC clinch take home the sliverware.
From onset, Mike Mutebi’s team looked the better side making several attempts at goal.
As early as the 2nd minute Patrick Kaddu tapped home but had his goal disallowed by referee Ali Sabila for infringement on goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato.
KCCA FC continued to make inroads but the breakthrough came three minutes after the half hour mark.
Midfielder Juma struck a well curled free straight into the back of the net after a foul on Patrick Kaddu.
Three minutes later, Okello who was named man of the match doubled the lead after breakthrough on the right wing to fire home.
This prompted Onduparaka FC to call for changes introducing Nicholas Kagaba and Richard Ayiko for Abel Eturude and Simba Sibir respectively.
Midway the second half, KCCA FC too made changes with Patrick Kaddu and Lawrence Bukenya paving way for Gift Ali and Muzamir Mutyaba respectively.
Despite stepping up efforts and looking a better side in the second half, Onduparaka FC failed to break past KCCA FC.
KCCA FC walked away with a cash prize of ten million shillings on top of the trophy while the runners up got five million shillings. SC Villa and Nyamityobora FC who lost in the semifinals got 3.5 Million shillings each while the rest of the teams will be given 2 million Shillings each for taking part.
The FUFA Super8 tournament was started by the FUFA Competitions Department to give teams a chance to test out their players during the off season as they head into the new season.
On its inaugural edition, Pilsner became the official sponsors of the Competition.
