Uganda Hippos’ journey in the Total CAF U-20 qualifiers has been stopped by Cameroon on Friday.

The Hippos bowed out in heart breaking style after losing 5-4 in post match penalties at the Omnisport stadium in Yaounde city.

Having carried a slim 1-0 lead from the first leg, Uganda lost the advantage after conceding in the second half to Nkeng Tadeus’ kick from the penalty mark on 68 minutes.

The aggregate score was one goal apiece after the 90 minutes before penalties were called in.

During normal time, defender Musitafa Mujjuzi and midfielder Frank Tumwesigye got cautioned for unsporting conduct.

Tumwesigye paved way for left back Robert Kitabalwa after 65 minutes in one of the two changes made.

Goalkeeper Keni Saidi limped out for Deni Otim at the stroke of full time.

Cameroon scored all the five and Uganda managed to put in four through Mustafa Kizza, Julius Poloto, Geofrey Wasswa and Allan Okello.

Right back Paul Willa’s effort was saved as the final score in the post match penalties read 5-4.

The team will return home by Saturday evening.
