Unwanted Witness Uganda Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ms. Dorothy Mukasa has blamed Uganda Police for not taking peoples data serious despite the ongoing kidnaps in the country.

Speaking this,Ms. Mukasa was addressing the press at Speke Hotel Kampala where she said that police should at least find means of safeguarding peoples data more especially internet users.

She wondered how police can fail to track down kidnappers who violate peoples rights and end up killing them after demanding for big sums of money.

Ms. Mukasa also urged Ugandans to be cautious of giving in every information concerning them while dealing with internet.

It should be noted that a report was published on 15th May 2018 by Unwanted Witnness talking about the operations of the electronic crime counter measure units which urged the administration of the Uganda police force to make public powers unit for public scrutiny as well as addressing concerns of transparency and accountability towards the Ugandan citizenry.

According to unwanted witness findings, the unit has since 2011 been allowed to operate in a complete regulatory and legal situation which presents a fertile ground for abuse and violation of fundamental freedom including the right to privacy which is central to the protection of human divinity.

On this note Unwanted Witness called upon constitutional bodies to investigate all allegations of human rights violation.
