The Electoral Commission has extended the nomination period of village women committees following the unfavourable weather conditions in several parts of Uganda.

The Electoral Commission says it received reports of large numbers of aspirants in the ongoing nomination of candidates for elections of Village Women’s Committees yet the whole exercise has been greatly affected by poor weather conditions thus resolving to extend the nomination period which was scheduled to end today on Tuesday.

Now, the commission has added an additional day and the exercise will end on Wednesday 8, November.

“The Commission has taken a decision to extend the nomination period for the above elections, which was scheduled to end today, Tuesday 7th November 2017, by an additional day,” said Justice Simon Byamukama, chairman of the commission.

Apparently campaigns will commence on Thursday 9th November 2017 and end on Monday 13th November 2017.

The elections of the five (5) members of the Village Women Committee will take place on Tuesday, 14th November 2017.
