A few weeks back Ugandan MPs opposed to the contentious age limit bill staged a massive fight on the floor of parliament and many of them were arrested and some badly injured.
And now the defiant legislators have virtually transferred the fighting virus to their Kenyan counterparts.
Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili also known as Babu Owino and his Starehe counterpart Charles Njagua (Jaguar) exchanged blows at Parliament media centre on Tuesday.
The two MPs fought before they were separated by Parliament staff.
According to Daily Nation, moments after the afternoon session started, Mr Owino walked into the media centre where journalists were keenly following the tabling of the Elections Amendments Law report.
He greeted journalists then proceeded to the office of the parliamentary media relations officers.
Moments later, Mr Njagua walked in asking “where is this Babu?”
A scuffle ensued and the two politicians exchanged blows before they were separated by parliamentary orderlies.
“We will teach you a lesson Babu, you must respect the President,” said the Starehe MP.
An angry Mr Owino responded asking “which president? The only president I know is Raila Odinga.”
The two were whisked away by the parliamentary orderlies.
The two MPs will appear before the Powers and Privileges Committee, where they risk being suspended from attending House sittings for some time.
