Gulu police have arrested 25 year old Simon Lubangakene for allegedly raping and killing an 80 year old woman.
Lubangakene was apprehended by residents on Sunday morning and handed over to police for allegedly raping and killing Rosa Atoo, a resident of Keyi ”A” village in Kabedopong ward in Bardege division.
Regina Arach, the deceased’s daughter says her mother disappeared on Saturday night during a Village party.
Arach says she reported the matter to the local authorities and a search was mounted.
According to Uganda Radio Network, Patrick Yoorach, the Speaker Bardege Division, says they apprehended Lubangakene after tracing his foot marks from the deceased’s house to his residency.
He says they also recovered torn pieces of cloth belonging to the deceased in the suspect’s house before they found her lifeless body dumped in Oitino stream.
