Bank of Uganda through their lawyers MMAKS Advocates and AF Mpanga Advocates have only managed to produce only one file out of the 26 requested documents by the property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia to file for his defence in a case he is being accused of stealing shs400 billion from the now defunct Crane Bank.

BOU’s lawyers revealed that they could only avail Sudhir with only a single document listed as ‘No.24.’

The letter which was filed on Monday at the commercial division of the High Court but is yet to be served on to Sudhir’s lawyers of Kampala Associated Advocates contains no cogent reason why the businessman could not be availed with the files as he requested.

“Notice that no “reference is made” in the plaint filed by the plaintiff on the 30th of June 2017 to any of the documents listed as items 1 to 26 (other than item 24) of the “Notice to produce Documents” filed on the 21st of July 2017,” such as to entitle the defendants to production of those documents at this stage of the suit,” letter partly read.

BoU lawyers further state that they would only provide the rest of the documents requested by Sudhir’s lawyers at the Scheduling Conference.
