The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire has refuted allegations made by Kilak County MP Gilbert Oulanyah that members of the forces dressed in civilian clothes took part in the Apaa criminal attacks whereby they injured and killed people using deadly weapons like arrows and pangas.

“The UPDF wishes to strongly refute allegations made over the media by Hon. Gilbert Oulanyah from Kilak North that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) dressed in civilian clothes has been a participant in the unfortunate Apaa criminal attacks where people have been killed and others injured in criminal attacks using arrows,” said Karemire.

According to Karemire, the legislator’s accusation is an absolute pack of lies and should be treated with the contempt it deserves. On contrary, the UPDF is tirelessly working with jointly with other sister security forces led by police to restore normalcy.

“The Police is working is working hard to apprehend perpetrators and bring them to account so that law and order is maintained,”

Meanwhile our political leaders are already engaged through various consultations to establish the root cause of the clashes with the view of reconciling the affected communities,”

So far over 10 people are dead and others severely injured in the land clashes between the Madi and Acholi people.
