Kampala Capital City Authority on Thursday stopped street preachers from making noise on the streets of Kampala.

KCCA in its document said that it has noted the increase of cases of unapproved activities such as street trading, street preaching, pasting of posters and banners and mobile advertising screens and loudspeakers among others.

Kampala city council said that in the maintenance of law and order ordinance, 2016 without further warning, it is going to start arresting and prosecuting in courts of law all the people violating the law including street preachers among others.

Pentecostal pastors have however warned city authorities to go slow on street preachers as the move was to be interpreted as religious persecution.

PASTOR Michael Kyazze of Omega Healing Centre told Bukedde TV yesterday that the move by Jennifer Musisi’s KCCA was instead to fire new zeal in the preachers.

“Jesus said that his followers would be persecuted but should remain strong,’ Kyazze warned.
