Mulago Hospital medical interns have laid down their tools over government’s failure to pay their three-months allowances arrears.

Hill Water

Medical interns are entitled to a net monthly pay of Shs600,000 to cater for their accommodation, transport and meals.

Mulago Hospital’s Executive Director Dr Baterana Byarugaba says he was shocked to hear that the students had gone ahead to strike despite the earlier agreement by the two parties to have them cleared soon.

This not the first time these interns are striking over the same issue. In the past years like 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016 they have being going on strike but after reaching an understanding with the government on every incident they call off the strike.
