Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni has arrived in Nairobi Kenya on a three-day visit during which he will participate in the 6th Tokyo International Conference on the African Development (TICAD).
The conference is being held on the African continent for the first time in the organization’s 20-year existence. TICAD is a conference held regularly with the objective of having high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners where Japan is always playing the role of co-hosting. Other co-organizers of TICAD are the United Nations Office of the Special Advisor on Africa and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Nairobi TICAD Conference, the 1st on the African continent, is expected to discuss issues that the continent has been facing since the last TICAD meeting that took place in Yokohama, Japan in 2013. These include industrialization, health and social stability as well as collaboration between the private sector in Japan and Africa.
