The government of Rwanda has deported three Ugandans.
In a deportation order issued on November 19, 2019, Francois Regis Gatarayiha, Rwanda’s Director General for Immigration and Emigration identified the deported as Ivan Niringiyimana, a resident of Cyahi sub county, Kisoro district, Beatha Nyiramuco, a resident of Busamba sub county, Kisoro district and Nicolas Tumwesigye , a resident of Bigaga sub county in Kabale district.
“Reference to article 15 of the law no 04/2011 of 28/03/2011 on immigration and emigration in Rwanda and article 38, 39 of the Ministerial Order No. 02/01 of 31/05/2011 establishing regulations and procedures of implementing immigration and emigration law,” Gatarayiha said.
Adding, “The Directorate General of immigration and emigration has issued you a deportation order and declared you a prohibited immigrant.”
The development comes hot on the heels of last week’s arrest of two Ugandans by the Rwandan security authorities.
Gilbert Beingana, 24, and Amos Tibesiga, 50, both from Butanda Sub-county, Kabale District were reportedly arrested by Rwanda security officials on November 11.
Gideon Turyatunga, a brother of Beingana says that his sibling had crossed to Rwanda through one of the porous borders points in Rubaya Sub-county to visit a female relative in Burera, Rwanda.
Turyatunga said that Beingana had offered to one of their relatives to carry 35 kilogrammes of sorghum to Kivuye Market, in Rwanda.
However, according to Turyatunga, Beingana and Tibesiga were intercepted and detained at Commune Headquarters.
He said that although they know where Beingana is being held, they are hesitant to cross the border to Rwanda.
