Singer Moses Ssali famously known as Bebe Cool has attributed the Hoima by-election victory to his good mobilization skills.

During campaigns, Bebe Cool was the lead act at many of NRM’s rallies, providing entertainment and mobilization of youth.

In the results announced in the wee hours of Friday morning, NRM’s Harriet Businge beat Forum for Democratic Change’s Asinansi Nyakato by over 4,000 votes. Businge garnered 33,301 votes against Nyakato’s 28,789 votes, according to Hoima Electoral District returning officer Douglas Matsiko.

Nyakato was also supported by several opposition politicians including People Power’s Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and Alliance for Nattional Transformtion’s Mugisha Muntu. Businge’s win was the first by-election Bobi Wine lost having handed victories to Kasiano Wadri (Arua municipality), Asumani Basalilwa (Bugiri Municipality) among others.

In a Facebook post on Friday, the ‘nkuliyo’ singer said his good mobilization skills helped the NRM candidate to defeat the opposition counterpart who was being fronted by his nemesis Bobi Wine.

“In my entire carier, i have been battling this buyaye to stay ahead of the music game, and now that the buyaye has been shifted to politics, am going to enjoy squashing them there too the way we did in Hoima,” he said.

“It was a sweet win and i must congratulate the Nrm team that came up with the winning strategy, combined force, despite the internal glitches and late engagement which we must address quickly before 2021.”
