Tanzanian Billionaire and philanthropist Reginald Abraham Mengi is dead. Reports indicate that Mengi passed on while in Dubai on Wednesday night.
The cause of his death is yet to be established.
Mengi was married to former Miss Tanzania Jacqueline Mengiand together they had two kids. The two got married in a lavish wedding in Mauritius back in 2015, a union that created a huge debate in Tanzania due to the age difference.
IPP Media Group
Mengi was a renowned businessman and the Chairman of Confederation of Tanzania Industries, IPP Gold Ltd, Media Owners Association of Tanzania, Executive Chairman & Owner at IPP Ltd. and Chairman of Handeni Gold.
The media mogul through his IPP Media Group owns 11 newspapers, radio and television stations as well as internet properties.
He also owns Bonite Bottlers, the sole bottler of Coca-Cola products in the northern region of Tanzania.
Philanthropic achievements
His Kilimanjaro brand of bottled water is the biggest selling in the country. His IPP Resources mines gold, uranium, copper, chrome and coal.
Being a philanthropist, he used to send hundreds of Tanzanian children with heart ailments to India for treatment.
In recognition of his philanthropic achievements and his unwavering commitment in the fight against social injustice, Dr. Reginald Mengi received several international and national awards over the years.
