Why a woman should choose to be respectful to her husband

By Faridah Nakazibwe

How much easier would it be to respect your husband if you took your eyes off of what he does or does not do, and instead focused on the truth that he is God’s creation? Because your husband is God’s creation, he deserves to be treated with respect. Sometimes all it takes is a change of perspective to help motivate you to do the right thing.

You’ll find when your attention is on Your man’s shortcomings (forgetting that too not perfect either) or your stubbornly want things done your way, it can prove very challenging to respond to him in a respectful manner. When your view of him is misaligned, it’s easy for you to treat him like he’s one of your kids. This type of behavior is wrong!

Our husband should be treated with respect because he is God’s creation. Moreover, he is in a position that God has commanded be respected.

This may sting, but it is the truth. If you’re going to be in God’s will as a wife, you must respect your husband. For some it may help to know that you are respecting the position God has given your husband, not necessarily his personality.

If this respect thing is a hard pill for you to swallow because your husband is not as smart, wise or gifted as you, then check your heart to see if it’s pride that’s hindering you. If so, confess it and trust that God is capable of helping you to “let the wife see that she respects her husband.”
