The Minister for Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, has rallied Ugandans to use the peace brought by NRA war fighters in 1981 led by H.E. Rtd, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to fight poverty.

“We must uphold the peace and use it to combat poverty because, as you are all aware, on February 6, 1981, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and a small group of his colleagues began the fight for peace, and today our nation is peaceful.”

“The NRM government has worked to combat poverty since the peace was established, which is why H.E. President Museveni is travelling the entire nation and spreading the message of wealth creation. I urge everyone in Uganda, especially those in Busoga, where I am from, to join this journey and support all government initiatives aimed at combating poverty and ending sleep deprivation and peace abuse,”Minister added

Speaking to this media, the Minister made her remarks during the 44th Tarehe Sita Celebrations in Kyotera district and expressed her gratitude to the Commander In Chief of Defense Forces, H.E. Rtd. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Mama First Lady Janet Kataha Museveni, and the entire team of Uganda Peoples’ Defense Force (UPDF) for managing to make Uganda peaceful. She also congratulated all Ugandans upon reaching the 44th Tarehe Sita Anniversary.

“The NRM government has fulfilled its primary function under the leadership of H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Even with the construction of roads, schools, hospitals, and better air transportation, poverty still affects some Ugandans who are still asleep. Let us make sure that this challenge of poverty is solved,” she added.

Kyotera District hosted this year’s Terehe Sita commemorative events with the theme “Celebrating Pan-African Solidarity and People’s Sacrifice in the Race for Freedom, Democracy, and Socio-Economic Transformation.”

The celebration brought together government Ministers, Diplomats Military officials and thousands of citizens to commemorate the day the NRA launched its armed struggle in 1981.
