GB Trust, a charitable organization based in UK has donated picture Bibles to learners at Kabubbu Community Primary School and Trust High School, Kabubbu to support their spiritual and educational growth.
The Bibles were delivered by Christian Literature Communication (CLC), Kenya whose mandate is to honour God by making Christian literature resources available and accessible.
Speaking at the handover, Dr Muthoni Omukhango, the National Director CLC Kenya explained that they delivered the picture Bibles to help learners learn how to read and improve their writing skills.
She revealed that through their Mama Africa Book Box Campaign, their mandate is to preach the gospel using literature.
“We have a program called Mama Africa Book Box encouraging children in Africa to be good readers in a bid to acquire knowledge. We started our club here at Kabubbu in December last year. We believe that when children learn how to read, they can perform better academically,” she said.
The event marked a significant milestone in promoting literacy, Christian values, and mentorship among children in Kabubbu. In addition to receiving Bibles, the students engaged in interactive Bible reading sessions led by the CLC team and were given the opportunity to explore creative writing.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kagoda Enock, the Executive Director of Kabbubu Development Project (KDP), thanked donors for the initiative, emphasising the lasting impact such donations have on young learners.
“ These Bibles are tools of transformation. They will not only deepen the faith of our learners but also enhance their literacy skills and storytelling abilities,” he said.
This initiative aligns with Kabbubu Development Project’s vision of empowering communities through education and holistic development. By providing access to faith-based literature and fostering a reading culture, KDP continues to support children in becoming confident, educated, and values-driven individuals.
Alvin Twinomugisha a Primary Five pupil who was among the many beneficiaries said the Bible is going to help him pray when scared.
He explained that he did not have a Bible before and so were his parents. With the donation, he said he will use the Bible with the parents at home.
“We are going to use the Bible together. I thank CLC for bringing the Bibles and we promise to put them to good use. Thank you for the kindness shown to us.”
