In a recent interview on NBS television, Dr. Kizza Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate and former leader of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party, emphasized the need for Uganda to prioritize essential services as the nation celebrates its 62nd Independence Day.

Dr. Besigye called for a reflection on Uganda’s current state, expressing concern that the government has deviated from the foundational priorities established at independence. He highlighted the critical neglect of health and education services, which he believes are vital to the well-being and future prosperity of Ugandans.

“The sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom were aimed at securing better services for future generations,” Dr. Besigye stated. He urged citizens to advocate for improvements in healthcare and education, asserting that these sectors are crucial for the nation’s development.

His comments resonate with many Ugandans who are assessing the country’s progress since gaining independence and questioning the government’s commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities.
