After a guided tour of Kana Farm early this week ,the Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Fort Portal Mr Businge Emmanuel called upon the people of the City and the neighboring districts to emulate Mr Nyakana Richard who has managed to set up several enterprises on an acre of land.
“Many people have bigger pieces of land but their productivity is low,meaning the land is being under-utilized ,they should emulate what is being done here,” Mr Businge said.
Mr Nyakana has set up a feeds processing plant for birds, a dairy section and then the poultry. With the Enterprises, the model farmer has managed to transform his house hold income.
To ensure no wastage ,the farmer also produces bio gas that he uses for domestic cooking. This means the household does not spend money on alternative energy sources that are not environmentally friendly.
With President Yoweri Museveni’s message of wealth creation, people like Nyakana offer inspirational practical stories needed for mindset change .
Mr Nyakana is a farmer from Rwengaju model sub county in Kaborole district who the President refers to in his addresses regarding social -economic transformation . Others officials on tour included the RCC Fort portal City ,the RDC Kabarole district and his deputy ,the DPC kabarole and the Diso Fort portal city.
