The Minister for Presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda has issued an update on arrangements for the return of Former Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah’s body to the country.
Oulanyah died on 20th March, 2022 in Seatle, USA, where he had been admitted with cancer-related complications in February.
President Yoweri Museveni later appointed Ms. Babalanda to head the burial arrangement committee to accord the fallen speaker a befitting send-off.
Following a week-long wait for the body, the Minister has declared that the body will arrive in the country on Friday (1st April) this week.
“Fellow Ugandans, I wish to confirm that the body of our beloved Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah will arrive in Uganda this Friday,” she tweeted.
The Chairperson National Organizing Committee for Oulanyah’s burial arrangements, further stated that this will be followed by a series of pre-burial activities that will run for a full week.
“We shall then have a week long series of activities for his burial,” she added.
Babalanda, however, disclosed that she will issue a detailed program for the arrangement tomorrow at 1pm.
