The Hope Discovery ministries Bishop Gerald Tugume on Monday donated one tonne (1,000kg) of maize flour to the Office of the Resident District Commissioner Ntungamo (RDC) towards helping people who have been affected by the coronavirus lockdown in the country.

Bishop Tugume handed over the food relief to the RDC Ntungamo George Bakunda, who is the chairperson Ntungamo District COVID-19 taskforce at the district premises.

He noted that the 1000kgs of posho was mobilized within the Christians of Hope Discovery church based in Ntungamo district to show love and solidarity to Ugandans as immediate interventions to save lives especially to those who were affected by the lockdown.

Bishop Tugume urged those who can donate food and other essential items to help throw their weight behind ongoing efforts to support the less privileged people in the communities.

Receiving the food relief from Hope Discovery church Ntungamo, the RDC Ntungamo George Bakunda hailed the church for the food donation to the task force saying that it will address food insecurity and malnutrition among urban poor and needy

Bakunda affirmed that the food will directly benefit the most vulnerable and those hit hardest by the COVID-19 lock down such saloons, mechanics and boda boda riders in the district.

He also appealed to other well wishers to contribute food, fuel and other items towards the combat of the pandemic.
